My style of work is impressionism. I paint to express a feeling or invoke a better feeling in myself. For instance, in early spring when it was cold for longer than usual, I wanted to feel warm and sunny. I needed the hope that the season of cold and darkness would pass and the hope that flowers, rain, and warmth would come again. The result was several warmer toned floral pieces. I want to create more than something pretty. I want my art to set the mood, to bring hope, joy, or even humor.
I am currently using acrylic paint, although I love to explore different mediums of creativity, acrylic dries quickly enough to mostly prevent precious little sticky fingers from messing up mommy’s artwork!
I live in Tennessee for two reasons: my husband is from here, and it has a long growing season. I need sun and growing things around me. So in the winter, I surround myself with my potted plants and paint all the things I look forward to seeing — or I paint in the summer what I have grown and made into arrangements.
CloseI love all the cute animals and appreciate the ones who aren't cute. They all serve their purpose and can be so beautiful. I don't think I could do life without some sort of animal in it. I currently have a dog and work very part time for a dog boarder. Basically to fill my needs of I dream of owning alpacas so I can spin their wool and knit all the things. Birds are always just fun to paint.
CloseSometimes I need to just paint with my thoughts and feelings instead of having an object or scene in mind. These are all one of a kind.
CloseMy dad is the Mel Bilbo who owns the Kringles Christmas store in Branson, MO. The love of designing and decorating for holidays — especially Christmas — is in my blood, my closets, my attic, and my garage — so why not my canvases too?
CloseI love helping others figure out and fulfill what they need for their space. Whether it be a "pocket" pet portrait, a series that reminds you of your sweet childhood memories. I will work with you on sketching up a few ideas to make sure I'm hearing your desires. If there is something that I've already done but you want it in a different size or tweaked a little, I can usually accommodate.
